Clarified Skin in 2 Easy Steps

If you are struggling with hormonal acne or blemished skin you might benefit from a change in your facial regime. And there is no need for expensive potions either. With just 2 simple steps you will be well on your way to clarified skin.

For better skin (and for the sake of the planet) give up those easy throw away facial wipes. Choose a sustainably made linen facecloth. Why linen? Because it is a sustainable crop grown close to home in Europe. Plus, our linen facecloths are made from linen that has been recycled from the textile and fashion industries in Italy (Italy is way ahead of the game with this idea). Make sure to choose a facecloth that has some exfoliating power, not too much, but enough that with a little pressure applied it will clear away dead skin cells and unwanted bacteria. Keeping the pores clear is the first step in better skin. Then consider your cleanser. Make sure you are using a cleanser that is balanced with your skin. For oily skin you could try plain hazelnut oil with a few drops of myrrh essential oil. Hazelnut oil is an astringent oil - because of its tannins - and will clean your skin efficiently, as oil attracts dirt, and will leave your skin smooth and refreshed. Read on for your 2 easy steps.

Use a Linen Facecloth

for lightweight, exfoliating, sustainable cleansing.

Step 1. Cleansing is the Key

Here’s how to do it:

1. Soak your facecloth in hot water - not too hot. 2. Put a small amount of oil in the palm of your hand then massage into your face - ensuring to work in well to any problem areas. 3. Take the hot cloth and hold against your face for a moment or two. Then ‘scrape’ off the oil with the facecloth, work around the edges well to lift of all the oil. 4. Finish by rinsing with fresh warm water. 5. Pat dry with a clean towel. Do replace your facecloth and towel often, daily if you can otherwise you could be adding bacteria back onto your skin.

Re-usable Cotton Pads

use with toner to clarify the skin

Step 2. Tone, tone, tone.

It is essential to use a toner. Our skin needs both an oil cleansing phase and a water cleansing phase. You don’t need a fancy toner. You could try a good quality organic witch hazel hydrosol - ( a true hydrosol is a bi-product of the steam distillation of essential oils) as long as it doesn’t have alcohol in it and gently sweep over your face with a REUSEABLE cotton pad. Alternatively, there are some great indie skincare brands out there making really good organic toners.

You can buy good quality organic oils and hydrosols at naissance or try maker’s ingredients. These two companies go the extra mile when sourcing sustainable products.
