we love life in glen urquhart. find out more about us below

our story

Made in the Glen was founded by three sisters; Julia, Christine and Liz in 2019. we started out making gifts for family and friends but soon the demand grew so we thought, well why not? we knew that out there hundreds of you would feel as we do about commercialism and the destruction of the planet. so we have listened to you and have been gradually expanding our range of gifts & homewares to meet your wants and needs. and we simply love making beautifully ethical products that are good for you, your home and the planet.

our promise

we will always do our research into an ingredient or material so that you can have complete confidence when you shop with us. You can be sure that your item has been made with the utmost care and love, by real people living and working right here in scotland. we know that because you care about planet earth, you take the provenance and sustainability of every aspect of a product’s supply chain seriously and we promise to ask the appropriate questions when we source our materials. it would be unrealistic to tell you that we can make everything here in the UK. however, you can trust us to make sure that our sourcing ethos is ethical, sustainable and moral. we always follow these simple questions:

  1. can we source it locally, or from scotland, if not scotland then uk or europe?

  2. is it made from natural materials and are they grown and harvested sustainably?

  3. how far across the globe has every aspect of the material or ingredient travelled?

  4. is it made from recycled materials?

  5. how will it decompose/end its life?
