White Vinegar and Essential Oil Fabric Softener

There couldn’t be an easier recipe:

500ml of White Vinegar - I source from Amazon, from a company called Olly and Polly.

5 - 10ml of Essential Oil.

Here are a few suggestions:

Lavender - a favourite for many, it has a calming fragrance that is known for its ability to aid sleep. Be sure to buy a pure variety as there are many imitations - look for Lavindula augustifolia

Lime - my go to Essential Oil at the moment, a refreshing & stimulating scent. My washing smells like fruit pastilles when I take it out of the machine :).

Lemon - an uplifting refreshing scent with deodorising properties.

Rosemary - a stimulating scent with antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Or you can mix your oils into a blend. Please wear gloves when handling essential oils. The bottles may be small but the oils are potent and powerful and some oils can cause irritation and should not be used directly on the skin. Check with your supplier for safety information if you are unsure.

Be sure to buy good quality essential oils that have been sourced ethically. Don’t be afraid to ask your supplier where their oils have come from. A good supplier will be happy to answer your questions. You can buy some oils that are organic but as its just for laundry I just stick with good quality pure oils.
